I'm just saying that the marketing team is betting on making the same money at $10 for x number of people than if they do it with Y number of people willing to buy it for $5.00. Less transactions, more or less the same profit.

I'm imagining their promotion will be 4 tabs plus the bonus 5th tab for $19.99. The $9.99 pricing mostly because $5.00 is eaten up pretty quickly by transaction costs, and to make buying all 5 tabs look like a much better deal.

Besides, with all the bitching here how the tabs should be $5.00, getting 5 tabs for $19.99 will seem like a steal.

it's abt $20 of my local currency per tab. (including conversion rate + credit card transaction fees)...
assuming tht i buy 4 tabs (max) at 1 go, that's a cool $80 i have to fork out

that's about 50% of the price of a PSP set / 15 full set meal at macdonald / 3 months supply of baby milk powder / 2 months supply of diapers..
....
....
or about 2 months of lunch $$

the pricing model make no sense to me as well..

That's why they will reduce it over time - eventually netting everyone.

It make sense it would be out Thursday, but the "Fourth Anniversary Update" pages make no mention of when.

Edit: well maybe "The festivities begin on Thursday, April 23 after the live update". Not exactly solid.

I just don't understand why people are upset, you don't have to buy it to continue to play GW, Anet are already (not including the promotion - w/e that is) giving you a free tab.

Personally I also think $5 is more like it, but

If you look at the other thread (the poll thread, that has roughly settled by now), roughly 30% (option 3+4) voted indicated $10 price tag is fair. However, even if setting the price at $5 can please all of the option2 crowd, at most there is still only 54% (option 2+3+4) voted indicated interest.

10 x (30% of X) > 5 x (54% of X)

Setting a price of $10 may actually be a better bet than setting it at $5. Anet's initial assumption is pretty right on.
